Well over one million raw hits have been logged at this website since 1998. These have included visitors from over 60 countries around the world. For a list of these countries go to the bottom of this page.
The following features/reviews/links (approx. 200) have mentioned and linked to my art work on the web (this is the total number of counts from all of my sites including the writing site). These might be a special feature page or an article or just a link to my sites. Somewhat less than half of the sites are outside the United States from 24 countries. Major features, reviews and covers on ezines are included first (about 70 major links). Some of the links (especially the older ones) may not still be active. Under each description I have usually listed the main address for the site itself first and then the specific link to the feature about my work. When I know the country in which the web site is listed I list it, otherwise it is left blank.

Major review of site:
Richard deGaris Doble is a pioneering artist - the works of art he creates are designed exclusively for Internet viewers. Doble seems to have come to terms with the requirements of the medium and has made his digital photographs and animations interesting and easy-to-download, for an easily-distracted audience. Among the best work here, are his 'impossible' self-portraits, the winter driving sequence and his digital totem poles for the Internet.

Digital Photography
Internet
The advent of digital photography has also led to many studio photographers and
photojournalists to put part or their entire business on the Internet. Internet
studios have much popularity on the Internet because of the time-saving
advantage, because photographers can broadcast their portfolio to billions of
people, and as photographer Rick Doble says on his website, digital photography
is just too exciting to resist trying.

Digital Totem Poles and Other Stuff
Rick Doble is a digital artist who has invested his work with a great deal of thought. His digital totem pole exhibit is a series of 10 high-quality abstractions. The images and patterns are derived from the manmade and natural world. Rick lists the major artists and artifacts that influenced his work. This is serious stuff, and very moving. The site has several other online galleries of Rick's digital art, all worth visiting. Don't skip the Third Annual Snowflake Exhibit. You can also browse Rick's written philosophical musings on digital art and the nature of art in the 21st century. If you think of art as more than just pretty pictures, this is truly a stand-out site.

Look, Ma - No Film!
Lousy resolution and weird color problems have been enough to keep most professional photographers off digital cameras, but Rick Doble saw the new medium as an opportunity to experiment. Rick's art gallery shows how very different from analogue digital still effects can be, and how to animate sequences of stills frames. But don't go to this site for how-to instructions; digital cameras are changing by the nanosecond, anyway. Go read Rick's essay s and see his stuff to soak up his creative, adventurous excitement about seeing the world in a fresh way each time he clicks the shutter.

Arti FAQ 21OO
A learning project for students in New York.
Using Renaissance achievements as a platform and present foundation, students
will pose key inquiry questions that will prompt their vision of art in our
lives within the next hundreds years.
http://library.thinkquest.org/13681/data/nyc/intro.htm
"Through our research and developing of this project Internet Artist Rick Doble contacted us to share his ideas and perspectives on art. Many of his points complement our project. We invite you to use them as springboard for speaking, listening and viewing our work."
1.Painting and art are well suited to create new images and icons that can serve
as touchstones and guides to our future.
2.Art should often evoke, refer to, pay homage to, or be related to earlier art
or art forms.
3.Even radical modern art has been related to earlier art forms.
4.Now, most painters tend to create from their imagination, from subjective
inner needs and inner impulses or they paint based on abstract principles or
conceptual ideas. Instead of drawing from nature directly, some painters draw
from their inner nature. For example, Jackson Pollock used to point out that he,
himself, was nature.
5.Jackson Pollock's dripped paintings which were inspired in part by the Navajo
Indian sand paintings. These sand paintings were created by shaman who poured
colored sand into the shape of figures. Later the wind blew the sand away.
6.Painting in this century has merely reflected the break with nature that the
civilization as a whole has experienced.
7.Since this is where the future and civilization are leading us, it is only
natural that painting and other arts would also move in that direction and be in
the vanguard.
8.Architecture needs to be created that provides transitional areas from inside
to outside and which does not set the building and the inside environment
completely separate and apart from the outside environment of the world. For
example, buildings should have some balconies, roof top gardens, and other
points that open to the outside.
9.Because technology has changed, the roles of men and women are different.
Women and men will be full equals.
There need to be stories and myths of the heroic that apply to both men and
women.
10.It is clear that the Earth and humankind will go through major changes in the
next century.
The above words are an extended quote from my article:
Thoughts about Art in the 21st Century.

We're dreaming of a White Christmas, and while Nature may or may not cooperate with our dream this year - we can see snowflakes as we never have on the net. Rick Doble is an Internet Artist - An E-Artist, so to speak. Have you ever tried to look at snow-flakes. It isn't easy, because they melt so quickly. Each little crystal is believed to be unique - the molecules of moistures freezing with particular beauty every time around its host mote of airborne dust. There are still photos, and animations of snowflakes in Rick's online exhibit. It's a nice little thing to check out, to get you into the spirit of snow this season.

2nd Review
Rick Doble takes pictures. He uses a digital camera, and gets incredible results,
then arranges the images into themed shows, and places them on the web for us
to enjoy. Oh, and he does all of this really well.
1st Review
Rick does several things, and does them well. He designs web pages. His straight
-forward approach shows him to be adept at that. He also takes photographs.
Examples are here in several different galleries. He also writes short stories
and poetry. Indeed, we hope to see some of his work in a future issue. Stop in,
enjoy the content, and get to know Rick. He is well worth knowing.
Snowflake pictures were put up at a Belgian school site.
Dear Rick,
I'm going to do my very best to translate what I wrote on our website.
« By chance I found in the - indeed excellent - weekly "Clickx" an article about the website of a certain Rick Doble. This "digital artist" occupied himself with editing (I have the impression this is a poor translation for our word "bewerken", sorry; maybe "elaborating" can do?) with color the photographs of the snowflakeman. The writer of this article putted that those images were indeed very beautiful, but asked himself (we quote:) "Allright, but what can you do with such a work of art?" Dear JDP, on this page you get an answer for your question. The magnificent photographs of Rick Doble are a perfect illustration for the text that I present my pupils. Internet: what it's all good for!»

Article (nr. 61)
Translation thanks to Guy VAN HEDDEGEM
Snowflakes on your computer, it must have something to do about wintertime. The photographer and digital artist Rick Doble shows his SnowFlake Splendor on the Internet. Ten enlargements of snow crystals were elaborated by Doble with color and placed in a photo-gallery. The artist presents his crystals as an animated gif too. All right, but what can you do with such a work of art? No fear, this site is full of good intentions. For instance, you can download the pics, and schools and educational institutions can show the slide show for free on their own sites; you are invited to exchange ideas with the author about his work too. In addition, this digital exhibition is presented with a matching philosophy about "art in the 20th century". What do you want more? Beautiful art, for instance? Well, those images are nice to look at. Doble's "color elaborations" give the snowcrystals an impression of a cathedral's leaded windows.

sonora.
