Brancusi's bird in flight (sculpture above) was his attempt to distill the essence of a bird, both its form and its motion, in a static object that was hard and solid. This is difficult to do. Yet, every so often, I will come across a scene that will lend itself to that kind of streamlining, that kind of extreme simplification, that conveys more about the subject with less detail. See my photograph above which I took through the windshield of my car as I drove through the town where I live. I have taken hundreds of such photos, but this one in particular boiled down all the elements into one flowing line.
